Marcelo Balboa was one of the familiar faces from American soccer in the 1990s. A mainstay on the U.S. National Team, Balboa was one of the first Americans to appear in three consecutive World Cups (1990, 1994, and 1998). He was also an original member of the Colorado Rapids in the inaugural year (1996) of Major League Soccer. Balboa led the Rapids in their victory of the MLS Cup the following year. He was inducted into the National Soccer Hall of Fame in 2005.
